Rumours from Hungary (24 March 10)
We received a message that Egmont Hungary will republish the first two book of the Asterix series, «Asterix a Gall» and «Asterix, az aranysarló». Probably this will be in a new translation. We are very happy with this new initiative in Eastern Europe and hope that more projects will be revived!

Website news (4 February 10)
Your webmasters have been very busy with some major improvements for this website. This results in new pages for each translation. The old pages automatically redirect you to the new pages (in case you bookmarked some). Thanks to new PHP scripts it's easy to generate up-to-date thumb overviews, concise tables or a printable Asterix translations guide. You also may have noticed that we have made some minor changes in the list of translations. E.g. Farsi is changed into Persian, Argentinean is now Spanish South America and Brazilian is changed into Portuguese Brazil. According to our list we count 112 translations while the "official" list counts 107, as we include the bootleg editions in Lithuanian, Thai and Sinhalese, the official Greenlandic translation which only appears in a newspaper (yes it's doubtful because there is no real album) and two Chinese versions according to information we found in old Asterix albums. We put a translation on our list when there is proof that albums of a translation are sold on the public market. Thanks to the new way we build our database, we are now able to create check lists like missing translator names or missing motto's... If you have a suggestion or question, don't hesitate to contact us.

Soon: the new book (19 October 09)
L'Anniversaire d'Astérix et Obélix. Translated into English this means Asterix and Obelix celebrate their birthday, their fiftieth birthday, in fact. We are very happy that a new book (with the title quoted above) will mark this special occasion. As far as we understand it will consist of various short stories, where old friends of our to heroes come to the little village and share memories. Several translations will appear this week, and (yes, we were mistaken earlier) also the english version!!

From the Missive (18 Jan 09)
Fresh news, from the official site! It is now confirmed from the official source, although you have to trust my French for now. Albert Uderzo has put the future of our hero Asterix in the hands the publisher Hachette. This opens the possibility that other artists create future adventures of our favourite Gauls. For now we are excited to learn that Uderzo is indeed working on a new album. We have to wait until October ... We are also sad to learn that Claude Berri, producer of the two live Asterix movies, has passed away. (more? see Missive 85)

Celebrating a golden wedding anniversary (15 January 09)
Albert Uderzo as quoted on actuabd.com from a RTL interview: We are going to release an album which will be called 'The Golden Book of Asterix', like a golden wedding anniversary representing the fifty years of marriage. [...] The book is a tribute in which there will still new comics, mostly short stories that relate to the anniversaries of two characters. (Thanks Liam)
